Description
Clarence shared his memories of his parents traveling to Winfield from Oklahoma in 1904. His father had a wagon and would haul various items about town for people. He also shared jobs he had as a boy working at the roundhouse for the trains and laying cement and brick for the streets in town.
Mrs. Clarence shared her story. She was born in Abeline, KS. After her father passed away, her family moved to a farm in Oklahoma. Her brother moved to Arkansas City in 1916, and the rest of the family moved to Winfield in 1917. She was married in 1919. After working since she was 12 years old, she was happy to quit working and become a homemaker.
