Avis recalls her memories of her church community. Attending Sunday School was a must no matter the weather. At age 22 she taught a class of teenage girls at the church. During this time, she traveled to Cuba and recalls the journey through the southern states. Booths of various kinds were run by different church groups to raise funds. Her girls group made and sold candy. She always cherished her church community as a peaceful part of her life in Winfield.
