Miss Dorothy Bratton
City Library Winfield, Kansas
Dear Miss Bratton:
By way of introduction my name is Dick Lynch, and I am an Administrative Intern with the City of Scottsdale, Arizona. An historian by vocation, I have been assigned the task of gathering and compiling the history of Scottsdale for our country’s Bicentennial celebration. Your name and address was referred to me by Mrs. Doris E. Cooley, historian for the First Baptist Church of Leavenworth.
Reverend Winfield Scott, founder of Scottsdale, was, as I am sure you are well aware, honored for his work in Kansas by having his name given to the new town of Winfield. Reverend Scott’s biography will be an integral part of the history of Scottsdale, and we are writing to you in hopes that the Winfield City Library has a biographical file on the City’s namesake. We are desirous of any information you may have. We would also like to know of any other sources of information on Reverend Scott of which you are familiar and of which we are probably unaware.
We are most appreciative of your efforts on our behalf and thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. We will await your reply.
Sincerely yours,
Richard E. Lynch
Administrative Intern
