Description

Part 1 - Etna shared memories of her maternal grandparents who traveled to Cowley County from Kentucky in a covered wagon. Their homestead was a log cabin with 11 family members. Her grandfather donated the land for a church that is now Mt. Zion Church. There also was a school and Mt. Zion Cemetery in the area. The community became to be known as South Vernon.

Part 2 - Etna shared her memories of a club in South Vernon that was called CET (crocheting, embroidery, & tat). A group of about 12 women would meet and do their hand work together. Sometimes the husbands and children would attend as well to join in the social gathering.
