Dear Ms. Cooley:
Mrs. D.M.Carttar has forwarded to me material which I requested about Major Winfield Scott together with a postcard which you wrote to her on November 4 in this connection. I appreciate your cooperation.
I should like very much to have access to the story of Major Scott’s life which you mention having a copy of. Would it be possible to arrange for the University of Arizona Library to borrow it? If it is not too many pages and could be zeroxed I would be glad to pay any charges.
I want to see it merely to complete information about Major Scott because he was a member of our Board of Regents in territorial days. Although I am engaged in preparing a history of the University of Arizona, I assure you that any use of material from this biography would be properly arranged for with the appropriate persons whether or not the story is copy-righted.
Sincerely yours,
(Mrs. )Evelyn J. Kirmse
