Hallie shares the memories of her father-in-law coming to New Salem, KS from IA during the 1870s. His homestead there was where he lived the rest of his life. He and others came together to sign a charter for the first bank in New Salem. Hallie's family came to New Salem to be near her father's brother who lived in Wellington. She shared many stories of daily life during that time period.
