Elvie shared the story of her grandparents traveling with 9 children in a covered wagon from Kentucky to the Kellogg area (South Vernon) between Winfield and Oxford, KS. They had may social events in the area such as, South Vernon Band, plays, and lectures. Her other grandparents traveled from IL to KS but were originally from Pennsylvania. She recalls that the community was very close to one another, and they all enjoyed their gatherings and church services.
