Description

Lucy shared the story of her traveling to Hackney by train from Tennessee in 1910 with her mother and siblings. Her family had a homestead 7 miles south of Winfield. When she started going to Winfield High School, she would stay in town during the week and go home on the weekends. She got her normal training certificate, taught for 2 years, and then attended Southwestern College. She eventually went on to get her master's degree and taught for 34 years at Winfield High School.
