Description

Helen was born in 1896 in Winfield, KS. Her father was born in Missouri, and her mother was born in Indiana. Her father grew up in Neosho, KS and moved to Winfield when he was 17. Her parents met and were married in Winfield, KS. Her father worked at the Baden Mill with his brother-in-law. She went to Bryant School for elementary school. During her junior year of high school, she graduated from the music school in Winfield, KS. She went to college in Swarthmore College near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She taught piano at the music school in Winfield, KS after graduating from college. The Four Artists was a music group that she traveled the country on tour. She played the piano for the group and then studied voice in Boston, MA. She also studied osteopathy with Dr. Still in Kirksville, MO. She practiced osteopathy in Columbia, MO for seven years. With her parents aging she moved back to Winfield, KS and practiced osteopathy in the old bank building.
